Once you schedule, I will send you a brief questionnaire to complete before your consultation. We will chat via phone or telehealth video conference. Your consultation time will help you decide if I am the right fit for you and help me get to know your needs and wants for therapy. If I am not the best therapist for you, I will provide you with referrals to therapists I know personally, so that you can get the help you deserve.
If we decide we are a good fit, we will schedule your first appointment over the phone. I will then send you an email with a link to sign up for your own personalized client portal.

Before your first appointment
Since you will already have access to your client portal, the intake documents will be available for you to complete before you even step into my office. Completing these forms beforehand saves time, so you don’t have to show up early or waste time in your first session filling out forms.
This allows me to review your information before we meet. I’ll also have a more in-depth idea of what’s bringing you in, which can also help you to feel more at ease.
During your first appointment
We will talk about your strengths, your suffering and your hopes.
It’s common for you to feel awkward and anxious during your first session. Most of my clients feel this way so you’re in good company. I will focus on helping you feel comfortable from the start.
We will explore what has you suffering, a bit about you’re history, what you have tried to fix the problem(s) on your own and your strengths and supports in your life. The first appointment lasts 55 minutes.
We will together decide how often you would like to come.
Initially, I only offer the first 8-12 sessions on a weekly basis. It’s important to start weekly at first so we can get to know each other better. Research shows that the relationship between a counselor and client is essential to change. Meeting weekly also helps you start experience some small changes.
Over the course of our time together, we will regularly re-assess your goals to see how you are progressing, and what areas you are struggling the most.
We will also discuss what your part is in making therapy a success.
In my office, therapy is an interactive & experiential process.
Together will explore what’s currently bothering you and how this is affecting you. You can share what your struggling with. Together we might explore how your past informs your current problem and what we can do together to make changes for your future. I might ask you to connect to emotions and sensation in your body, to consider therapeutic concepts that challenge how you think about your problems or teach you a variety of coping skills.
Therapy works best when you actively engage in and attending sessions. When you come to your appointment having an idea of what you want to focus on in your session, you’re more likely to make progress towards what you are seeking. I will offer you bite sized pieces of homework to take home and focus on between session to maximize your investment in you.
